How to wear a Sari

Fang is like the HOTTEST character in ANY Final Fantasy game! Seriously! (this is worth no LJ-cut)

While the whole world was complaining about Final Fantasy XIII, I spent 40+ hours and made it to the final area. Not going to the final boss yet as well, it's just suicidal (boss-type enemies kill the party with one hit). Not just for the characters, but my PS3 has been getting unstable lately.

Anyway, Nobuo Uematsu isn't scoring this game, but Masashi Hamauzu's compositions are just as great!
He composed some music in FF X anyway. I've uploaded one track:

My sister showed me one of her old friend's blog (whom I she hates now, that's why we're doing this LOL) saying that her friend, bought a lot of branded "sh*ts" and well, the latest entry really made me want to write an "EXPOSED!" entry. Mainly because, he is against people who sell cooking pots and make a decent living. EVERYONE NEEDS COOKING POTS, TO COOK, DUH, WHAT'S WRONG WITH THAT?! Well maybe not all that, but just a vendetta against people who think that they will never get found out.

Seems like the new guy posted into the department really overstayed his welcome.

Now, almost everyone in the office is against him. Well, constant late arrivals, tardy turnout (uniform) and doesn't give a heck to the whole office culture.

Today, I took one of the longest train rides I've had in a long time.. From Jurong East to Kembangan! It was like 45 minutes of standing with a 5kg bag.. I wouldn't complain if not for people BUMPING around ~_~..

I received a few, boringly interesting, sarcastic remarks at work today.

"Are you really that busy? Why are you taking so long to finish the project? Is it really that difficult?"
Right.

"You're always acting so busy.
RIGHT. coming from someone who plays all games all day.

"I what doing nonsense? You doing what C* F*** WORK LAH!"
lol this is such an uneducated and uncouth I really have got nothing to say.

WELL YOU PEOPLE CAN SHOVE IT (© ilyana)
cause i'm not interested in whatever you're sayin'

and in some cases I don't understand what you're saying, so please speak in English

I'm just going to stand by my own values, my own discipline, my own expectations. Everyone knows I have exorbitantly high standards, but I work fast, achieve stunning results, and ultimately, jaw-dropping reactions/jealousy. Nothing is ever shoddy about my work, even though currently I'm giving away my talents for free, and I enjoy showing off my skills (and skillzzs).

Nuff' said for me. What have you got to say for yourself?

It's hard to write about things happening when a lot of them are classified and since some people ARE scanning blogs.. Outside of work, the only thing I could remember in July was going to DFS Galleria and ion orchard with dearest [info]anna_sea and [info]jacqueen!

Just a note! Don't queue on the ground floor outdoors, if you're heading to Louis Vuitton. There's another entrance on the second floor and obviously it's more comfortable (and those people walking on orchard road won't STARE lol.

I'm really happy with the project assigned to me for the past few months. It's been quite exhausting, I overworked and fell ill midway but really, I did learn a lot. Of all things, I'm doing video editing, and it's FUN lol. This kind of pings me back to the time where we had to choose between MOI and IMD. I will never regret with IMD (since in short, it has more prospects, honestly) but maybe I should've taken a few extra video electives.

Yes yes, this would mean I would get more work, and anyone could just tell I'm the busiest NSF there already. Right after I finish one project, another comes breezing in. I'm taking it positive - opportunities to sharpen my skills and prepare for University, so I don't mind getting overloaded, part of growth and development which I would really need before my 4 years of studies.

Besides, doing a lot of work makes time pass A LOT faster.

Drama will never cease to exist in offices, but I'm becoming quite involved recently. It seems that after almost a year in NS, I became more vocal, increasing exponentially. I wouldn't hesitate to slam tables and shout back now, but if brutal techniques don't work, the most powerful weapon would be to send a series of internal emails - sorta like a barrage of arrows.

oh BTW. I'm thinking of buying a new camera... Any suggestions for good Pro-compacts?I'm between upgrading my LX2 to a LX3.. Or maybe Sigma DP2 too.. Look at the image quality! Too bad the camera is actually quite slow in taking shots (Sorta like playing Fatal Frame with the weakest camera and film, what!)

I could only say, the past week was like a major twist in my NS life.

So many things uncovered; so much hypocrisy. Some people really deserve a STAR AWARDS for their acting skills.

I've no idea how I'm going to survive the next 15 months, peacefully that is!

In other news, please support [info]anna_sea's campaign for CHANEL 2.55 at 21st, also known as the DADDY-BETTER-BUY-OR-DIE movement.
I could tell she was desperate when we went for a spin at the CHANEL, PRADA and LOUIS VUITTON boutiques. The SA at CHANEL's going to call security as someone couldn't let go of the bag. HA HA HA.

THE FAIL MOMENT OF 2009

April 8, 2009 - Last year, Nintendo published the frightening Wii-exclusive action title, Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse, in Japan. Since then, fans have waited for the company's U.S. subsidiary to announce a stateside release of the game, which was developed by Tecmo and Grasshopper Manufacture.

And waited. And waited some more.

In early April, MTV had the chance to speak with NOA president Reggie Fils-Aime about the subject and the executive shot down hopes for a local debut of Fatal Frame, saying: "We are not the publisher of that title in the Americas."

Buh? Nintendo published the title in Japan so it was thought that the company would do the same for the game in America. Apparently not. Which publishers does that leave open to do it? The only other possibility is Tecmo, which had up until Mask of the Lunar Eclipse published all Fatal Frame games. So we contacted the third-party in hopes that it might shed some light on the subject and simultaneously offer stateside Wii owners a hopeful solution to the calamity.

No such luck.

A Tecmo spokesperson gave IGN the following statement:

"Nintendo holds the publishing rights to 'Fatal Frame Wii,' which was developed by Tecmo LTD. and Grasshopper Manufacture and released in Japan on July 31, 2008. Nintendo of America has since then decided not to publish the title in North America – consequently, the title will not be released in this territory. As the owner of the IP, Tecmo feels very unfortunate that the fans of the series in North America will not have a chance to play the game, but respects the final decision made by Nintendo of America."

- IGN.

Nintendo you )($*@**#(@#, stop thinking the Wii can survive on "Wii _____" titles alone. Sales for this game is astounding in Japan, and it is a very good IP to expand upon.

Just be glad CAPCOM's still supplying you those chopped Resident Evil titles.

Thursday was kinda nice, since it was a HALF DAY!!

My department is having a retreat and basically the office seems kinda half-empty in the morning.. I thought retreats are like those days where everyone will get to go outdoors for some team games or stuff like that, but this is like some er.. work planning thing. Anyway, for once I could stay around the lower floor since I've finished most of my project and presented it to the Director..

Anyway around 11am, all of us left to Hotel Miramar for a Dim-Sim buffet lunch. It was really funny and nice to eat with all the other NSFs... sans all the WEIRD things getting thrown into people's tea.. We clear the food pretty fast, since it's some ala carte buffet - We've got ten people at the table and there's usually the right amount of servings. So we had to order extra dishes after the first round of "pre-selected" food. Towards the end, all the officers started dumping all the leftovers to our table at the end. What is this?!

After which we went to Vivocity for the movie.. Slumdog Millionaire. Before the show started, they played the trailer for COMING SOON and many were shocked by the scenes. The main feature was quite interesting - I shan't spoil the movie, it is a little overhyped but I feel that the oscars were well-deserved.

SO ADDICTIVE ZOMG. Why are all the M-rated games on the Wii almost definitely awesome? Okay of course games like BARBIE DANCING PRINCESSES will have nothing to be praised, but it seems like the Wii is destined to be a machine for zombie shooters lolx.. kk I do admit I was hooked to Zelda, Wario Inc, Elebits (for a while) and obviously Wii Sports.

This game is quite different from the rest. A first non-arcade shooter, keeping the same gameplay but changing the theme quite dramatically. It's less of the mystical parts now - bosses no longer named after Tarot Major Arcana (You get things like "SCREAMER", "MOTHER"...), and the monsters/aliens are replaced by very "humanoid" monsters that mob rush at you, Left4Dead style. The game has gone quite terribly (in an intentionally good way) grindhouse B-horror and quite annoyingly, the amount of expletives in the game is really excessive. ALMOST EVERY LINE'S GOT ONE.

Okay I think I'm spoiling my Wii Remote and Nyko Perfect Shot. Fortunately this game lets you buy and switch weapons, so I swapped to SMGs and Assault Rifles. A shotgun would be a much better choice but I just love to hold the trigger and rain 'em with bullets. Dual wield tiemz.

wthax haven't blogged in weeks. I've been busy.

My new unit's rather nice, although the first few days were really odd. Unexpectedly, the guys there did a search on me online and on my first day of work, I got a shock when they found out my many aliases. This place is very different compared to Changi. While I miss the people there, most of them are already leaving, finally reaching the end of their 2-year NS term.

I'm kinda glad to refer each day as "work" instead of "NS SLAVERYZXXXX" now. Arriving at the office before 8AM now without the fear for mortal peril, arrowing or people messing up - accident or not. Not forgetting that I can still go home every day at a VERY fixed timing (instead of mostly late but sometimes VERY early back at the Naval Base). Compared to stay-in units, I must say I'm quite blessed. Unfortunately, I'm going to spend a lot on transport and food, since the camp is SO FAR and there's no cookhouse. Why did I complain about the aunties from FOODFARE PTE LTD??!

The new place's just got renovated and it's quite a large office. Yep, a true working environment here, at the Defence Technology Towers. Half Military half civilian, and all the officers here are CPT or above. It's getting rather interesting what the unit is all about, picking up the pieces day-to-day as I try to learn about how everything is working discreetly.

Finally ***DRUMROLL*** I'm actually going to have some chance to do design work here.

I received news that I'm to be transferred to another unit just yesterday. First reaction: SHOCK. Second reaction: WTHAX IS THE CAMP?!?!

I wanted to appeal to my officers and ask them to keep me in Changi, but after what's that happened so far, I probably shouldn't question my blessings and probably the only chance to exit while I can, lolx.

........................

And after an almost peaceful day today in the office, the usually stringent and indifferent MSG (Master Sergeant) decided to help me clear my OFFs, including the "illegal" double ones (YAYYYYY!) so effectively today was my last day. My only regret is that my seniors, Aanandaa and Chen, are now heavily burdened as one of them are going to leave soon as well. And the juniors we have.. Oh well, I think everyone's feeling quite lucky if they don't blow things up one of these days, honestly speaking.

So yeah, I'm saying goodbye to Changi Naval Base, the ships there and my unit which is pretty on the verge of collapsing (nothing to do with my departure actually) right now.

........................

My new unit seems quite INTERESTING actually..

Err... Behavioral Sciences?!

Finally watched the film. Another Miyazaki masterpiece, no doubt! Story isn't as engaging as his previous three films, but the art is really lovely, with no CGI used at all. There's so many complex scenes with fishes swimming all over the place, reflections and stuff... all resembling digital work but are actually hand-drawn. The music, by Joe Hisaishi, is equally enchanting.

It feels like one of his old classics revisited in HD or something. Well, if you've watched MY NEIGHBOUR TOTORO.. Ponyo somewhat looks like Mei. The scene where she tries to transform into a human (the first time) with her father trying to stop her = absolute LOLX..

GO AND WATCH IF YOU HAVEN'T!

Sorta stressful opening to a new year! Camp chaos/crisis as usual, a lot of deadlines and last-minute planning to go, but all of that was handled...

Ayumi Hamasaki, despite her hand injuries, performed at Kouhaku 2008. What's more amazing, she went to perform at her PREMIUM COUNTDOWN LIVE 2008-2009 A, a 3-hour concert. Her hand doesn't seem to be seriously injured at all, with her wearing a well-concealed brace/support thing hidden as part of a wristband that matches each of her costumes perfectly. The fact that she can still sing with ALL her dance movements... brings TOTAL SHAME to some of the shameless people at my camp who can't "do anything" for a really simple hand injury..

For no reason whatsoever (similar to how I listened to MALICE MIZER for a period of time), I'm now addicted to Sachiko Kobayashi's music. (Okay, I'll admit I do enjoy enka, it's a lot of exhausting vocal work, but I've never actually saved any music down.) She's a very popular enka singer, famous for her lavish, exaggerative and totally insane mechanic "illusions" every year at Kouhaku.

Anyway, she's so POWERFUL she has her own Pachinko machine (LOLX???) complete with DIGITAL MIND WAVE slots from CRISIS CORE and dramatic SUMMONS fused with folkdancing.. Not to mention the gauche metallic frames with so many flashy multi-coloured LEDs.

Just last night, I was talking to [info]anna_sea about our future MRT lines.. I can't believe they're planning to make stations "within 400m-1km" from one another and MRT tunnels (total distance of course) LONGER than the London tube system.. Are they INSANE?! Why would we need such an extensive system? Some of the circle line stations already sound redundant (Rochor Station, in between LITTLE INDIA and BUGIS). People, please learn how to walk.

2009 just started... 2010 FASTER COME PLX.. Universal Studios Singapore KTHXBAIZ.
